Wahengbam Manimatum Meitei, a student of BTech in Civil Engineering), is solving water supply challenges in the hilly terrains of Northeast India. With his forward-thinking technology startup, Reverate, Wahengbam is committed to taking his flagship innovation, the HEP WaCo Pump (Hydro Energy Powered and Water Conservative Pump), to the next level. His innovation, the HEP WaCo Pump, is an eco-friendly, fuel-free, and electricity-free water pump designed to operate using the natural force of water.
A Wonderful Scent Of Winter Nights, Snow And New Year
Based on the “Water Hammer” principle, the HEP WaCo Pump is a modern evolution of the 200-year-old Ram Pump. It harnesses hydro energy to deliver water efficiently, making it an ideal solution for regions with limited access to power infrastructure. Not only does the pump conserve water, but it also supports sustainable agriculture by promoting organic farming in remote hill areas.
Reverate has successfully tested two pilot pump models in Senapati and Ukhrul Districts of Manipur, showcasing its effectiveness in real-world conditions. Wahengbam has also filed a patent application for his design, aiming to scale this innovation across rural and off-grid communities. With sustainability at its core, Reverate’s solution stands as a beacon for green technology in water management.
