On World Youth Skills Day, we invited the youth of India to share the skills that have made an impact on their lives. We are thrilled to receive such fantastic responses. Thank you for sharing your journeys with us.
To begin with, we would like to highlight two unique stories from the youth of Manipur, India. Let’s take a closer look.
The Journey of inspiring Youths – from Veterinary Care to a Gold medalist in rural marketing
Dr. Thiyam Vrubanata, a young veterinary entrepreneur from Manipur, is reshaping the region’s veterinary landscape through her enterprise, PV Polyvets. With a mission to deliver high-quality care to pets and livestock, she also empowers local farmers and pet owners through innovation and community-focused solutions.
Her journey began in 2017 while pursuing her Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences in Aizawl. Even during vacations, she actively worked as a tutor. She interned at State Veterinary Hospitals, laying a strong foundation for her career. Facing the challenges of limited resources, competition from non-vets, and the setbacks of the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned home in 2021 and started a clinic in her own premises. Balancing her role as a veterinarian with a position at Agocons Agrotech, she sustained her livelihood while building her practice.
Today, Dr. Vrubanata successfully runs two PV Polyvets clinics in Imphal, offering hygienic and compassionate care. Her innovative spirit led her to pursue an MBA at Manipur Technical University, where she won a gold medal for her dissertation on poultry marketing challenges—a step toward integrating veterinary science with rural market solutions.
Her clinics stand out for their pet-friendly innovations, including custom recovery methods and sustainable, homemade medical aids. With financial support from NEDFi, she has acquired advanced diagnostic equipment and plans to expand to a full-scale diagnostic and inpatient unit.
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.“
– Anatole France (French Writer & Nobel laureate)
Looking ahead, her team is developing a digital platform to connect veterinary product manufacturers directly with consumers, ensuring timely access to supplies and services. Despite recent setbacks—including floods, law and order issues, and limited guidance for funding—Dr. Vrubanata remains undeterred. Her resilience, passion, and commitment continue to inspire a new generation of veterinary professionals and entrepreneurs in the Northeast.
